and Pick-Up Procedures
For Safety and

- Keep the safety of our children
foremost in your mind.
- Be cautious and courteous.

You must follow
our drop-off and pick-up procedures for school. The
lives of your children depend on it. Please read
this message very carefully; review it with other
people who may help transport your children to and
from school (grandparents, spouses, and neighbors).
Violators will be spoken to. The West Chicago Police
Department will become involved if need be. Please
do not be rude to our crossing guards. They are
protecting your children. When dropping off or
picking up children on Garden Street, adhere to the
following: All cars must enter Garden Street from
the north end of Garden St. by York Street. Cars may
park along the west side of Garden Street or enter
the gravel lot. Do not block any driveways.
Gravel Parking Lot Procedures
When dropping off or picking up children in
the gravel parking area, please adhere to the following
procedures:
To enter the
gravel lot, all cars must enter the northernmost
driveway. To exit the gravel lot, all cars must
exit the southernmost driveway. When exiting, all
cars must turn right onto Garden Street and
drive south to Washington Street. This keeps the
crosswalk open.
If the lot is full and the curbside parking is
full, wait patiently in line on Garden or
York Streets. Do not expect your child to run to the car to get in. This encourages you to get out of
the car line and begin to go around other cars.
This creates a double lane and creates a
dangerous environment for everyone.
Oakwood Procedures
When dropping off or picking up children on
Oakwood, please adhere to the following procedures:
All cars must
enter Oakwood from the north, approaching from
York or Ingalton. Cars may pick-up or drop-off
children using the west curb side of Oakwood
only. Exit heading south on Oakwood to
Washington. Or, use the Church parking lot to
park and walk to get your child. Do not pull
into the parking lot that is next to the Early
Childhood Building. This is reserved. Do not
block driveway between the Parish Center and the
Early Childhood Building.
Crossing guards are necessary to ensure safe
crossing for your children. Perhaps you are a
parent who has more time in the morning or one
who waits for your children at 3:00. Could you
give the crossing guard volunteer position 10
minutes of your time? You will reap the
benefits...safe and healthy children. And
remember to give them respect.
Crossing guards are necessary on Garden Street
at 8:00-8:15 and 2:50-3:05. Please sign up on
the PTO volunteer sheet now for a day of the
week and indicate morning or afternoon.
Bus and Fire
Lanes
Bus Lanes/Fire Lanes are in the front of the
Church on Oakwood and in front of the Early
Childhood Building. Using these lanes may result
in a ticket from the West Chicago Police
Department.
Bus Lanes/Fire Lanes in front of the school are
also posted. Cars may not park in them at any
time. Buses do use our bus lane daily and at
different times. Use the gravel lot to park or
the curb on the west side of Garden Street. We
must all cooperate to offer a safe street for
children and drivers.
